Read the reading material and answer the questions on this page (scroll down). So before you go to the reading material look at steps 1 and 2 here and at the questions on this page.

Step 2 Take each question below (scroll down) and write a paragraph for each question as part of an essay. Include one paragraph for an introduction and a paragraph for a conclusion. Each paragraph should have at least three complete sentences. Once you have your essay prepared, click on Submit Essay to submit your work one paragraph at a time. Introduction - For the introduction part of this essay, you may want to first answer the following three questions with one paragraph each and then come back to fill in the introduction and mention something from each of the three paragraphs.

List three items that make filing a 2017 Minnesota income tax return a requirement. What are the two requirements to be considered a Minnesota resident? Even if you are not required to file a federal income tax return, you will file a Minnesota return to...

   
3. How do you determine your Minnesota filing requirements as a part-year resident or nonresident? Even if only one spouse has Minnesota income and you filed a federal joint return, should you file a Minnesota income tax return? What does Minnesota have to do with Michigan and North Dakota when it comes to filing a Minnesota tax return?
   
4. What does Minnesota want you to do if you purchased taxable items for personal use and did not pay sales tax? Where are these items normally purchased from? What is the amount that determines if you must file a use tax retunr and pay use tax?
   
5. For the conclusion part of this essay, you may mention something from each of the three previous paragraphs and offer an opinion. What do you think about all this? You may want to start this paragraph "In Conclusion..."
